The ones who haven't told a single person.

There are far too many of us.

And most are too afraid to speak up.

Here in Aotearoa, women are 2.4 times more likely than men to experience intimate-partner violence, and women made up 74% of people killed by their partners between 2007 and 2021. 

Figures compiled by HELP also report lifetime sexual-assault prevalence of 36% for women compared with 13% for men.

Watch what happens when a woman does.

Suddenly everyone wants her name. Her history. Her choices. Her credibility. Every detail strangers think they're entitled to know.

Then we collectively scratch our heads and wonder why other survivors stay silent.

There's your fucking answer.

So, to every Jane Doe:

You don't owe us your identity.

 You don't owe us your trauma.

 You don't owe us an explanation.

We don't need your name to stand beside you.
